The School Day

The main playground at the south end of the school building is the regular gathering area for children when class is not in session. The extended day care program operates in this area as well. Drop off and pick up zones are noted on the campus map at the back of this handbook. In the interest of safety, the front of the school is off limits to students except when walking to class (unless a parent or teacher is present and responsible for their supervision). Children should not enter the school building until the opening bell.

Child Care (Extended Day Program) as early as 6:30 a.m.

7 minute opening bell (Go directly to class or meet at area desiginated by individual teacher) 8:38 a.m.

School begins 8:45 a.m.

Recess

K-1 9:45 a.m.—10:05 a.m.

K-2 10:10 a.m.—10:30 a.m.

Preppie-K 10:35 a.m.—11:05 a.m.

1st and 2nd 10:15 a.m.—10:30 a.m.

3rd and 4th 10:30 a.m.—10:45 a.m.

5th and 6th 10:45 a.m.—11:00 a.m.

Lunchtime

Kindergarten 11:15 a.m.—12:15 p.m.

1st grade 11:30 a.m.—12:15 p.m.

2nd grade 11:45 a.m.—12:30 p.m.

3rd grade 12:00 p.m.—12:45 p.m.

4th grade 12:10 p.m.—12:55 p.m.

5th grade 12:20 p.m.—1:05 p.m.

6th grade 12:30 p.m.—1:15 p.m.

Class Dismissal 2:45 p.m.

Child Care (Extended Day Program)….3:30 p.m.—6:00 p.m.

Kindergarten Memo

The kindergarten playground is situated at the north end of the school building. Kindergartners and Preppie-K-er’s should be brought to this area after 8:00 a.m. They should be picked up from the kindergarten playground until 3:30 p.m. After 3:30 p.m. kindergartners will be cared for in the Day Care area (south entrance to the school building). Most kindergarten parents will prefer parking in the Cerritos Ave. lot and walking children to the kindergarten yard.

Extended Day Care

Children may arrive at school as early as 8:00 a.m. and remain as late as 3:30 p.m. without charge for extended day care. Children who arrive before 8:00 a.m. or who remain at school after 3:30 p.m. must report to the day care supervisor (south playground) whether or not previous arrangements have been made for day care. This includes kindergartners. Please rest assured your children will always be well supervised while at our facility. Extended day care fees are minimal, and the care of your child is optimal. Please meet your day care obligations as you do your tuition payments. Thank you.
