The MISSION of the Opportunity Program is …

-- to provide a learning environment that enables children to overcome learning disabilities and differences

-- to spark and develop their potential to succeed at school

-- to build their skills, confidence, and character so as to empower them to manage life and reach their highest personal potential

 

The METHOD of accomplishing our Mission includes:

-- an exceptionally low pupil/teacher ratio

-- teaching specialists with a heart and calling for the child with special needs

-- a range of kinesthetic and practical approaches to teaching and learning subject matter

-- a recognition and genuine appreciation for the unique individuality of each child

-- teachers who encourage and counsel their students and who serve as their advocates and monitors in the mainstream classroom

-- establishing and maintaining a relationship with the home that encourages and guides the parent, and nurtures the growth of the child

Our CHALLENGE: To establish an economic base that is sufficient to sustain the program in its current “idealized” configuration and

pupil/teacher ratio. The endowment fund is the vehicle through which we subsidize tuition to make the program affordable to a broader constituency.
